In 2007, the Standard Chartered Plc committed up to $10 billion under the Clinton Global Initiative for renewable and clean energy projects by 2012. A bank official recently said in Manila that the bank is on track to meet the same.

Standard Chartered provides debt, advisory and equity across sectors. It is involved in a number of RE projects in Asia including solar power in South Korea, wind power in China and India and geothermal power in Indonesia. Standard Chartered is partner of Manila-based Asian Development Bank (ADB) in providing project finance for RE projects and the bank is bullish on business opportunities in the region.
